School Aged Care<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The School Aged Care program is available for children (aged 5 to 12 years) and is offered both before and after school.  At this time, we service Harbourview Elementary School and Porter Elementary School.  You may choose either before school care, after school care, or both.  Care over Christmas break, Spring break, and the summer is also available.  Your fees include Professional Development Days and early dismissal days.  On Professional Development Days we provide lunch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step By Step Child Development Society offers enriched, high quality child\/family care programs.  All of our programs are child focused.  We believe that learning should be fun and include all aspects of development.  We keep in touch with the trends and needs within our community and with the latest research in childcare.  Our goal is to support families in preparing their children for the up and coming years and to build each child\u2019s skills for the future. Staff are experienced Early Childhood Educators with some special needs and under three certification.  Staff are always upgrading and taking professional development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our focus for all of the children in this group is middle school readiness.  The program encourages:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • Supporting each other<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Building self esteem<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • A good sense of self<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • To have fun<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • A sense of community<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    We do this through the variety of activities.  The children have an active role in the direction of the program.  We have the same three goals for all children:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    1. That each child leaves feeling good about who they are.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    2. That each child leave with an acceptance of others.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    3. That each child leave with a growing excitement for learning.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
